Clear answers about business valuation, Fractional CFO support, Private Coaching, Business Brokerage, and Build for Sale!

General

Which service should I start with?

Start with Business Valuation when you need to know what the company is worth. Fractional CFO services help put you on the path to reach your financial goals. Private Coaching helps you work toward a target value, while Business Brokerage is for owners preparing to explore or complete a sale.

Do I need to be preparing to sell?

No. Many owners start with setting the target to know what the finish line is and when. It takes a long time to move the needle so it is best to start now.

Can Gary work with my attorney or CPA?

Yes, Gary can work alongside an owner’s existing advisors and management team, including your current CFO, to communicate the analysis and next steps clearly.

What is the first step?

Schedule a FREE conversation with Gary to discuss where the business stands, what you are trying to accomplish, and which service best fits that goal.

Business Valuation

Do I need to be preparing to sell?

No. A valuation helps you know your starting point and helps identify opportunities to find cash now and build for more value later.

Which valuation approaches are used?

Gary considers the income, asset, and market approaches as appropriate for the company and the purpose of the engagement. The analysis also considers how a buyer or seller may view the business.

Does Gary only work with Tennessee businesses?

No. Business valuation engagements are available nationwide.

Fractional CFO

What is a fractional CFO?

A fractional CFO provides senior financial leadership on a part-time or flexible basis. It gives a business access to experienced CFO guidance without adding a full-time executive position.

How is a fractional CFO different from a bookkeeper or accountant?

A fractional CFO helps the business owner maximize value, safeguard assets, and provide accurate and timely information.

Does Gary replace my existing accounting team?

Not necessarily. Gary can work with your bookkeeper, controller, CPA, and other advisors, helping the team improve the information delivered to management and turn it into action.

When should I consider fractional CFO support?

Every business needs a CFO, whether full time or part time. Think of a CFO as a rudder on a ship. A CFO helps you set the course and stay on course.

Private Coaching

How is Private Coaching different from group coaching?

Group coaching addresses challenges shared by many owners. Private Coaching is built around your company, your priorities, and the matters you may prefer to discuss confidentially.

Do I need to be preparing to sell?

No. Coaching can help you strengthen the business, work through a specific challenge, build toward a future target value, or prepare for an eventual exit—even when that exit is years away.

How is coaching different from Fractional CFO service?

Fractional CFO work centers on financial leadership, reporting, controls, planning, and value creation. Private Coaching focuses more broadly on the owner’s goals, priorities, decisions, and accountability. Gary can help determine which type of support fits your needs.

Is this the same as a business valuation?

No. A valuation estimates what the business is worth at a point in time. Coaching helps you decide where you want to go and work through the priorities that can move the business toward that goal.

Is Private Coaching included with Build for Sale!?

No. The course is self-paced and includes its own online content, exercises, and templates. Private Coaching is a separate one-to-one service; live calls and the book are not included.

What is the first step?

Start with a private conversation about where the business stands, what you are trying to accomplish, and where outside perspective or accountability would help most.

Business Brokerage

Do I need a business valuation before selling?

Knowing your company’s value is not a guessing game and involves more than merely rules of thumb or picking a multiple of EBITDA. It helps you know your true value as well as ways to increase it.

What is the difference between a strategic and financial exit?

A strategic buyer may see additional value in the company’s customers, market position, capabilities, team, or fit with another business. A financial buyer typically focuses more heavily on earnings, cash flow, risk, and investment return.

What if I am not sure I am ready to sell?

That is a good reason to begin planning. Gary can help you consider your goals, understand the business’s readiness, and identify work that may strengthen the company before a sale.

How long does it take to sell a business?

Time varies by company, market economy, location, earnings, and due diligence. An estimated time frame is 12-18 months.

Build for Sale!

Do I need to be ready to sell?

No. Build for Sale! is most useful before a sale becomes urgent. The Process helps you build a stronger company now while preserving more options for the future.

Is the course only for large businesses?

No. In fact, Build for Sale! was developed for the 99% of businesses with less than $10 million in revenue.

What does the online course include?

The self-paced course includes 15 videos of about 20 minutes each, with several exercises and templates to use. You also get lifetime access to all content. There are no monthly subscription or monthly fees. Private coaching and the Build for Sale! book are not included.

Should I start with the course or the book?

Choose the self-paced course if you prefer online content, practical exercises, and templates. Choose the separately sold book if you prefer reading and working through the Process independently.

Does Build for Sale! include a business valuation?

No. Build for Sale! teaches the value-building Process. A formal business valuation is a separate professional service that estimates what your business is currently worth.

Can Gary help me apply the Process?

Yes. Private Coaching is a separate one-to-one service for owners who want individualized guidance, privacy, and accountability. It is not included with the course purchase.
